Trump Thanks "S.S." for "Handing" Anti-Fascists.

Continuing his attacks on protestors rising up against anti-Black police violence, Donald Trump tweeted:

“Our great National Guard Troops who took care of the area around the White House could hardly believe how easy it was. “A walk in the park”, one said. The protesters, agitators, anarchists (ANTIFA), and others, were handled VERY easily by the Guard, D.C. Police, & S.S. GREAT JOB!”

By “S.S.” Trump was referring to the Secret Service. However, most references to the SS are commonly understood as references to the Schutzstaffel, a Nazi paramilitary organization. Hailing the “SS” for cracking-down on anti-fascist activists is a little too on the nose, even for Donald Trump.

Trump’s use of the term “agitators” is also notable, given the increasing use of the term “outside agitators” in reference to protestors. Learn more about the anti-Black and antisemitic history of the term.
