The Headliner at a GOP Fundraiser: Antisemite Nigel Farage
Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA), GOP candidate for U.S. Senate representing Pennsylvania, invited Nigel Farage, the antisemitic British politician known for railing against the “Jewish lobby,” to headline a fundraiser. In addition to regularly repeating antisemitic conspiracy theories, Farage has given multiple interviews to Pastor Rick Wiles of the antisemitic TruNews site.
While the Pennsylvania Democratic Party issued a response condemning Barletta’s association with Farage, Barletta is not the only Republican politician or right-wing figure to align himself with Farage: Donald Trump is also a close ally of Farage’s; Farage speaks at a number of conservative events, including CPAC, alongside Republican Party leadership; Farage was also invited to speak at a 2020 strategy retreat with Senate Republicans.
This was not Barletta’s first brush with antisemitism: In 2006, he gave an interview to American Free Press, Holocaust-denying publication that also promotes the conspiracy theory that Jews are to blame for the 9/11 attacks.
