Lara Trump Headlines Virtual Event with Gavin Wax, Supporter of the Proud Boys

On July 8, 2020, Lara Trump participated in a live video chat with Gavin Wax, the Chair of the Association of Young Republican Clubs, the same day that Wax gave an interview to the white supremacist hate site, VDARE.

Lara Trump is married to Eric Trump, and is listed as a campaign adviser to the Trump 2020 re-election effort.

VDARE has hosted writing from prominent antisemites, like Kevin MacDonald, and is published by white nationalist Peter Brimelow. Wax is far from Brimelow’s only link to Trump’s Republican Party: Former White House staffer and current congressional aide Darren Beattie spoke at an extremist conference alongside Brimelow, and White House Senior Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow and Brimelow are long-time friends.

In October of 2018, Wax co-organized an event in New York City featuring Gavin McInness, founder of the violent hate group the Proud Boys. Following the event, thirty members of the Proud Boys violently attacked protestors, shouting slurs while doing so. Among the attackers was Wax’s friend, Jake Freijo. The two were photographed together working the event, and Freijo was photographed later that night as he beat a protestor.

Ten Proud Boys were later charged for their role in the attacks, and in August of 2019, two of them were sentenced to four years in prison.

The Metropolitan Republican Club is the largest young Republican Club in the country. Wax has helped guide the Metropolitan Republican Club towards a full embrace of Trumpism. Within the last few years, the Metropolitan Republican Club has hosted numerous far-right figures like including Jack Posobeic, Michelle Malkin, and Mike Cernovich.
