Republican Mayor Amplifies Neo-Nazis on Social Media

Mayor Nick Isgro of Waterville, ME, was caught not only following white nationalist and neo-Nazi pages on social media, but also regularly sharing their content and promoting the antisemitic Replacement Theory. According to a site tracking Isgro’s ties to far-right extremists, Isgro has liked, followed, and been a member of multiple pages and groups that traffic in white nationalism, including Holocaust denial. When asked about his amplification of neo-Nazi and white nationalist memes and messages, Isgro replied “I share a lot of things on social media.”

Isgro is also the Vice Chair of the Maine Republican Party. Little-to-no Maine Republican politicians or party leaders have criticized Isgro’s support for far-right extremism when asked to comment.
