Marjorie Taylor Greene Moderates Facebook Group That Called for "Day Of The Rope"

Mother Jones revealed that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), an antisemite, Islamphobe, white supremacist and QAnon conspiracy theorist, serves as a moderator of the Family America Project (FAP) Facebook group. Prior to her run for Congress, Greene held the position of Nation Director of the Family America Project. Despite no longer working for FAP, she remains, as of February 4, 2021, one of the eleven administrators and moderators of the organization’s Facebook groups.

As Mother Jones’ David Corn reported, the Facebook group has been home to numerous posts repeating conspiracy theories and advocating violence, including memes promoting the slogan “Day of the Rope” — a reference to the mass hangings of “race traitors” fantasized in the white supremacist novel, The Turner Diaries.

Members of the Family America Project Facebook group posted images in support of lynching public officials ("start with Hillary and Obama!"), the Punisher skull featuring the inscription "God Will Judge Our Enemies. We'll Arrange the Meeting," along with repeated entreaties to violence against Democratic elected officials.

Greene herself has made similar calls for the execution of Democratic politicians. On multiple occasions in 2018 and 2019, she suggested that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had committed “treason” and should “suffer death.”

Greene is not the first Republican elected official who has been exposed as an administrator of a far-right Facebook group. In August of 2018, Media Matters reported that six Republican candidates for office were administrators of a Tea Party Facebook group in which antisemitic, Islamophobic, and racist posts were regularly shared on the group’s page. Among these posts was the false claim that Nazi chants of “Jews Will Not Replace Us” in Charlottesville were staged by liberal activists. The six Republican politicians were: Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), who won his congressional race; Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who won his gubernatorial race; West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who lost his Senate race; former Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH), who lost his Senate race; Danny Tarkanian of Nevada, who lost his congressional race; and Corey Stewart, a Virginian neo-confederate who lost his Senate race.
